Publishers' Assistant Lyric Edition
Business Management Software for Publishers
By Ronald Lawrence
Publishers' Assistant LyricTM Edition
All editions of Publishers' Assistant are Windows®-based desktop computer applications. All feature the ability to enter invoices, track finances and inventory; and all handle even very sophisticated royalty, consignment, and commission contracts. Liabilities are automatically tracked as the result of entering your sales and returns. Furthermore, all editions of Publishers' Assistant include a complimentary copy of CoupletTM, our title management and communication software.
The LyricTM Edition is our fully-featured single-user product. LyricTM features the same liability accounting system as our EpicTM edition. Each sale posts transactions to your author, supplier, and sales rep accounts. LyricTM also allows you to post payments to those accounts, so you can keep track of advances and unscheduled payments. LyricTM even generates payments automatically when, for example, you are settling all of your royalty accounts at the end of the quarter. Payments for other expenses can also be recorded and check writing is available. At your option, your payment transactions can be ported to Quickbooks®, so you don't have to manually enter data into both programs.
LyricTM also features an open-ended reporting system that allows you to create your own reports or modify any of over 200 reports we supply with the application. Report definitions are based on a standard SQL query and Visual Foxpro report designer forms. Data can be exported from any report to a text file suitable for importing into Microsoft Excel® or other application. The possibilities for better analysis of your business are endless.
Other features include the ability to manage multiple
databases, functions to process subscriptions, standing orders, and backorders,
and of course our date-sensitive, multi-warehousing inventory system. For a more detailed list of the features of each edition of Publishers'
Assistant, click here.
What People are Saying
...We carefully looked over a number of inventory software options when Mapletree Publishing started three years ago, and ended up with Publishers' Assistant. It's economical, especially if you are a SPAN member, and does a very nice job of tracking inventory, doing purchase orders, doing marketing analysis, computing royalties, and doing everything we need it to do. We're very happy with it. It is Windows based. And, as we grow as a publishing company, we can upgrade it to a more sophisticated network version. We quite like it.
...However, there is a learning curve with Publishers' Assistant--you'll definitely need to read the manual to get the full benefit of the software. But Steve Carlson and Ron Lawrence at Upper Access are very helpful if you need them to answer any questions--at least they were with me.

...Also I'd like you to know that the more I use PubAssist, the more I appreciate its finer points and appreciate all the work you have put into it.

Less math, better records, and more time to promote the book. I love this software! I need this software!
